Training for the Swim LegThe Colchester Triathlon swimming portion covers 500 meters in Malletts Bay, Lake Champlain. It's an open water course, which means there are no lines guiding you, only distance buoys to mark turn points. The more times you can train in open water the better you'll be prepared for race day. However, the pool is a great place to start your training so that you can become familiar with strokes and breathing techniques.
